Late 2005 saw Parkside Oncology Clinic's lead Clinician, Professor Trevor Powles become the first British Oncologist awarded the prestigious Brinker Prize for scientific distiction in the field of breast cancer. The Head of our Myeloma and Leukaemia Unit, prof. Ray Powles has recently been awarded the Chairmanship of the Scientific Committee of Haematopoetic Growth Factors (2005-2006) by the American Society of Haematology.
During their time at The Royal Marsden Hospital in London, Professors Trevor and Ray Powles appeared on TV's This is your Life highlighting their lifelong achievements in working and advancing the field of oncology care and treatment. March 2003 say brothers Professors Ray and Trevor Powles both receive CBEs from the Queen at Buckingham Palace for their services to cancer treatment. At the time, Head of the Marsden's Leukaemia and Myeloma Unit, Ray said of the award: "It was a very special day. It was particularly nice that, unlike everyone else, who had to stand apart from their families when they collected their awards, I was able to receive mine with my best mate!"
