Radiotherapy at Parkside Oncology Clinic Opened in 2003, Parkside Oncology Clinic provides a modern and state-of-the-art radiotherapy service for the treatment of all common cancers. Our dedicated and responsive radiotherapy team (consisting of Consultant Clinical Oncologists, Radiographers, Clinical Scientists and other healthcare professionals) provides a personalised and evidence-based radiotherapy service, ensuring that the highest standards of patient care are maintained throughout the course of a patient's treatment Radiotherapy treatments at Parkside Oncology Clinic are performed with two high-energy Siemens medical linear accelerators. Both are fitted with multileaf collimators and electronic portal imagers and are networked using the Multi-ACCESS oncology management system meaning patients receive some of the most advanced treatment available. The planning of a patient's treatment involves creating a three-dimensional representation of the area to be treated using a CT scanner and advanced virtual simulation software. Parkside Oncology Clinic’s modern and high quality facilities enable the provision of both 3D Conformal Radiation Therapy (3DCRT) and Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT). In addition to CT imaging, Parkside Oncology Clinic has a Nuclear Medicine department that provides SPECT imaging, while MRI scanning available provided at the nearby Parkside Hospital. This access to various different modes of imaging allows us to target cancers with radiotherapy treatment with far greater accuracy and improved effectiveness. We carry no waiting lists for patients needing radiotherapy treatment. |
